Meet the mama
behind the posts

Hey everyone my name is Kayleen Schultz, I am fairly new to this heart mom community.  We found out at our 20 week anatomy scan that our baby girl has a severe CHD in October of 2022.  Our home is in Billings, Montana where my husband Corey and I are currently raising our two beautiful daughters Daisy (6), and Della (4).  Our third baby, A.K.A. our little warrior girl is on the way and has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).  Luckily through a series of three surgeries and the advancements in modern medicine there are encouraging results that prove she can lead a very courageous life. Currently, we are anxiously awaiting her arrival and preparing for the inevitable shift our lives are about to take as we approach her due date of March 10th and inducement date of March 5th.  We will be receiving care at the Children's Hospital of Colorado.

My intention behind starting this blog was for my beautiful daughters;  I wanted to leave a tangible trail of stories and insight for them to read someday.  In doing so I plan to share a little piece of my heart and perspective about this next chapter in our life as we navigate this new journey of CHD and specifically raising a child with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  I also wanted to create a space for other heart moms, medical moms, and just moms in general to feel validated as we all navigate the waters of motherhood.   And for anyone else who may venture across this page, I hope I can lend some positive insight about how to handle life if you approach hardship and how to lean on faith when life throws uncertainties your way.

I can't say what our future looks like for when our warrior girl joins us earth-side in March, but I am hopeful this page will provide anyone curios about her status with current updates of her/our journey!  Thanks in advance for checking in, following along and keeping us in your prayers.
