Gabriella Update: We are so happy to report mostly good news! It’s scary to get our hopes up as we have been warned how things can change in a minute, but we aren’t going to let that kill our thunder today. Gabby was able to get off the ventilator yesterday and we got to hear her little voice and hold her for the first time in four days. My mama heart definitely needed that This morning they took her completely off oxygen (big win!) We moved rooms across the hall today as she’s considered less high risk but still on the cardiac ICU floor. We were spoiled with the same nurse the past couple days who strictly handles “Norwood” babies. She was definitely the veteran of the floor, and had the highest level of respect from all her colleagues. We were sad we didn’t get her again today, but grateful for her care as we feel she pushed Gabby in all the best ways during her intensive recovery period! The plan today is slowly wean her off Milrinone (helps her heart to squeeze and reduce resistance of blood going out of the heart), push her feeds every six hours she can go up 2 cc’s she has to get to 20 before we can try a bottle or breast feeding. Currently she’s at 6 cc’s! (She’s getting fed through the little yellow tube in her nose.) Biggest concern right now is still her high heart rate. They aren’t to sure what’s causing it, but we are hopeful they will get to the bottom of it soon. Tomorrow speech will come check out her vocal chords, just based off my own assessment I think she will be ok. She has a little bit of a froggy sound to her cry and her voice is a little softer than pre-ventilator; but the ICU doctor told us not to worry to much they typically heal on their own. I’d like to add big sisters are doing amazing, they’ve been so brave and spoiled to death by Gigi, Nana and Daddy. It’s been a blessing for us to be together and helped make our hard days a little better! Overall, a positive update! One more step in the right direction!

It's probably time for an update on our little warrior girl ❤️ Gabby had a pretty scary reaction to one of her medications after fighting...
